Kari Schmidt has an LLB(Hons) and BA (Hons) in Art History. She is interested in the nexus between art and the social, public and legal realms, having written her LLB dissertation on the conflict between Copyright Law and Appropriation Art, and her Art History dissertation on art and social change in New Zealand via the strategy of participation. She recently co-curated the exhibition Fleshbag at the Skinroom in Hamilton (November, 2016) and is writing art criticism for Eyecontact and The Pantograph Punch. She works in the Local Government & Environment team at Simpson Grierson in Auckland
