Ilham Akhlaqi is a former refugee from Afghanistan. She is an active member of the Afghan Community in Aotearoa, and is currently studying her Masters of Creative Technologies. Her area of research is designing sportswear for Muslim women to promote fitness and mental wellbeing. She is passionate about breaking religious and cultural stereotypes held against women, and to inspire them to follow their ambitions.
