Naomi Simon-Kumar is of South Indian heritage and was raised between Pōneke, Kirikiriroa and India. She has both Malayali Syrian Christian and Hindu ancestry. She holds an academic and policy-focused research background and is interested in issues of social inclusion, particularly in improving opportunities for diverse practitioners in the creative arts industries. In her free time, she writes non-fiction and creative prose and has published work in various anthologies including Starling, A Clear Dawn (Auckland University Press), and Ko Aotearoa Tatou (Otago University Press).
