Jessica Hansell aka Coco is a Māori (Ngāpuhi), Samoan and German creative from Auckland. She is an established musician and writer, and also directs for screen. Coco is a Creative New Zealand Fulbright scholar through the Center Pacific Island Studies in Hawai'i and in 2019 became a New Zealand Art Laureate for Interdisciplinary Arts. She is the creator of the animated sitcom series 'Aroha Bridge' and runs Kuini Qontrol - a multimedia hub/record label prioritising mana wāhine, Indigenious and Oceanic stories, LGBTQI/gender-fluid voices and underground creatives of colour.
