Matthew Crookes

Matthew Crookes is a UK­-born writer and artist. Crookes lived in New Zealand from 2002-2014 before relocating to Berlin. He has a BA in Fine Art from Leeds Metropolitan University UK, and an MFA and PhD from the University of Auckland. He has contributed to creative and academic publications in Australasia, notably through the Clouds Publishing imprint and for Un magazine in Melbourne. In 2012 he was a guest researcher at Malmo Art Academy in Sweden. In the same year he was curator in residence at the Culturia residency, Berlin. He is a veteran of several artist residencies in Berlin and one in Newcastle, NSW Australia. He is currently engaged as communications manager for Berlin Sessions, an online platform providing tailored residency services for artists and academics visiting Berlin.
